CRI for Led Lighting

As a new type of lighting source, LED (Light Emitting Diode) has the advantages of high energy efficiency, long life, and bright colors, and is more and more popular among people. However, due to the physical characteristics of the LED itself and the manufacturing process, the intensity of light of different colors will be different when the LED light source emits light, which will affect the color reproduction of LED lighting products. In order to solve this problem, CRI (Color Rendering Index, Chinese translation is “color restoration index”) came into being.
The CRI index is one of the important indicators to measure the color reproduction of LED lighting products. Simply put, the CRI index is a relative evaluation value obtained by comparing the color reproduction of a light source under lighting conditions with that of a natural light source under the same conditions. The value range of the CRI index is 0-100, the higher the value, the better the color reproduction of the LED light source, and the closer the color reproduction effect is to natural light.
In practical applications, the value range of the CRI index is not completely equivalent to the quality of color reproduction. Specifically, LED lighting products with a CRI index above 80 can already meet the needs of most people. In some special occasions, such as art exhibitions, medical operations and other occasions that require high-precision color reproduction, it is necessary to choose LED lamps with a higher CRI index.
It should be noted that the CRI index is not the only indicator to measure the color reproduction of LED lighting products. With the continuous development of LED technology, some new indicators are gradually introduced, such as GAI (Gamut Area Index, Chinese translation is “color gamut area index”) and so on.
In short, the CRI index is one of the important indicators to measure the color reproduction of LED lighting products, and it has high practical value.
